Ninjalytics Migration Guide

Migrating to Ninjalytics from Product Sales Report Pro or Export Order Items Pro

Getting Set Up

Unlike Product Sales Report Pro and Export Order Items Pro, which use license keys for activation and updates, Ninjalytics uses a simple connection process to authenticate the plugin to your WP Zone account. The connection to your WP Zone account is used internally to authenticate requests from the plugin to our systems to upload data and generate reports.

Before you can start using the Ninjalytics plugin to run reports, you’ll need to complete the connection process when prompted in the WordPress admin. Next, you’ll be prompted to run an initial sync of your store’s data to Ninjalytics, as well as to enable automatic sync for the future. You can optionally enable the customer data upload restriction at this time as well (it can also be enabled in your Settings later, but it won’t apply to data that has already been synced). Please note that the initial data sync may take some time, depending on the amount of data in your store.

Existing Report Presets

Your existing report presets (including your last used settings) from Product Sales Report Pro and Export Order Items Pro (and their free equivalents) will automatically be available to use in Ninjalytics. You do not need to keep the Product Sales Report Pro or Export Order Items Pro plugins active to use this feature. When you go to your reports list under Ninjalytics > Reports, you should see your legacy reporting presets listed below any presets you have created in or imported to Ninjalytics.

You can view or download a report from a legacy report preset in Ninjalytics > Reports with one click. To edit the presets, you’ll first need to click the Import button to import the preset into Ninjalytics, which will convert it to a cloud-based Ninjalytics report. The legacy preset will remain stored on your site until you choose to delete it.

Ninjalytics should be one-for-one compatible with Product Sales Report (free and Pro) and Export Order Items (free and Pro) in nearly all cases; however, in limited scenarios it may not be possible to map your reporting settings into Ninjalytics exactly. In this case, you should see a dialog explaining which settings are affected when you view, download, or import a legacy report preset. You should still be able to use the legacy preset with the limitation(s) outlined in the message.

Creating New Reports

Unlike our legacy reporting plugins, Ninjalytics comes with a suite of reporting templates that help you get started with creating new reports. Click the Create New Report button under Ninjalytics > Reports to see what is available. Once you’ve chosen a template to get started, the report preview below the reporting settings will automatically update as you change settings, so you can easily see what the report will look like.

Product Sales vs. Order Item Details

Our previous generation of reporting plugins had separate products for generating aggregate product sales statistics (Product Sales Report Pro) and for listing details of individual sales (Export Order Items Pro). Ninjalytics combines this functionality into a single interface. In the General > Report Mode setting, choose “Aggregated” if you are looking to create a report similar to Product Sales Report Pro, or “Details” to create a report similar to Export Order Items Pro. Various options in the report settings UI will automatically be shown or hidden based on which of these options is selected.

Email Reports

Ninjalytics also replaces the Scheduled Email Reports plugin. To send reports by email on a one-time or recurring basis, go to the Emails tab in the main Ninjalytics interface, or click the Email Report button near the bottom of the page when viewing or editing a report. Note that legacy reporting presets need to be imported to Ninjalytics before they can be sent by email.

Other Notable Improvements

In “Aggregated” report mode, the General > Report Type option provides various non-table formats for reporting output, including Line Charts and Bar Charts. Chart-based report formats can be downloaded in PNG or PDF formats, in addition to the interactive view within Ninjalytics. When selecting a non-table report format, you also need to specify which field is used as the series name, and which field(s) are displayed on the available axes (depending on the report format, there may be one or two Y-axes available). For example, a report displaying product sales over time may have the product name as the series name, with quantity on the Y1 axis and gross sales on the Y2 axis. Note that some report formats may only display one field per axis, even when multiple fields are selected.

All report types can now be downloaded and emailed in PDF format!
